So like many other people I have several hobbies that I work on improving my abilities in. My main ones include baking, cross-stitching, make-up artistry and photography. I tend to move between each hobby over certain periods of times. Recently though, both baking and photography have been front runners for my attention this summer.
I've been tasked with making the cupcakes for my future sister-in-law's bridal shower. Making cupcakes is easy, something I've done dozens of times, I mean look at those perfect domes! The challenge comes in decorating said cupcakes. I've never attempted to decorate the cakes I've made, outside of the casual spread of icing across the top, so this is unknown territory. That said cake decorating is something I've always wanted to learn how to do. Today's cupcakes were a trial run and thank goodness for that cause I think the first attempt was alittle flawed to say the least.
The goal was to have the cupcakes look like they were covered in small flowers in the wedding colors which are(you guessed it!) blue and purple. I think that I need to keep practicing at this but considering that they don't look too much like a Jackson Pollack painting, I didn't necessarily fail...and yes, they are tasty, I know you are wondering.
I plan on continuing to pursue this new interest and hope to add it to that list of things I consider my self to be proficent at (which is a short list but not too short). I'll keep you updated on how future attempts look and give me your opinion on how you think these went. Next time, I'll be talking about photography!
